|Rescue Me ID: 16-10-26-00347Millie (female)|
Millie is a Parson Russell Terrier and was a companion dog for my elderly aunt until my aunt passed away. Since Millie has come to stay with us we've discovered that my aunt may not have played with toys with her or taken her to actual dog parks. Millie is very sweet, gets along with everyone and other animals. She can be a bit stubborn when out walking on her leash but loves to go on walks. Millie also loves warm baths. Stairs can be a challenge for her but if given enough time to climb them she will tackle them like a champ. We did find out that every home Millie has stayed at since my aunt passed away up until she came to us has always had a doggie dog. So she has never had to worry about needing someone to let her out to go potty but has adjusted well. We're still learning things about Millie as she's only been with us for a few weeks. Millie does not like to be confined to one room with a gate but a kennel is ok. Plus she is will get into any garbage can if given the chance. We were expecting to have her for awhile but the dynamics of our household has changed in which has effected how long she can stay with us. So we are trying to find her a forever home as quickly as possible as we do not want to surrender her to a shelter where the inevitable could happen. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-07-24-00231Stewie (male)|
Stewie is a great pup. We rescued him 8 years ago from the Humane Society in St. Louis. We were hopeful Stewie would transition to life with little kids in the house, but he has not. He has now nipped at our 17 month old son three times, and we want to rehome him before we have a major issue on our hands. He needs to be in a home with no children, no cats and no other dogs. He loves walks (even runs!) and is VERY smart, so he enjoys agility and training. He's house broken, but has been known to mark any new territory- especially if other dogs have been there. He is a fantastic snuggler, but is independent at night in his own bed. This breed is a known shedder, and Stew is no exception. However, unlike the breed trait, he is not a digger. He does have leash aggression, which we've chosen to manage by walking him during off times of day. When we think of Stewie's next home this is what we imagine: A family with teenaged children, or retirees who want a loyal and fun-loving companion, and are content to have their dog stay closer to home. They've been dog owners before, and aren't afraid to assert themselves as alpha and be on call for lots of walks. They want a housebroken pup who is mature, but has a lot of spunk and life left! Parson Russell Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. The Parson Russell Terrier is also known as the Jack Russell Terrier. The Parson Russell Terrier is a witty, highly intelligent and trainable working dog. Parson Russells are cheeky, entertaining pets. Parson Russells do well with considerate children but do not like to be teased. Parson Russells need a dominant owner experienced in firm obedience training. The Parson Russell Terrier has strong hunting instincts and should not be trusted with small animals. This scrappy Terrier may fight with dogs with which he is not socialized from an early age. Parson Russells can live in an apartment but need plenty of exercise and do best with a yard. Parson Russells can climb and dig under fences, and need to be kept on a leash when walking.
